Culinary Lead
Start Date: January 2025
Wage: $22/hour
Legacy Greens is a small local grocery store in Downtown Kitchener. We’ve been operating for 8 years and run a prepared food program alongside the retail aspects of the business. We are currently seeking someone for the Culinary Lead position.
Ideally, this position is a 3-day a week position. If you are looking for full-time hours, please apply anyways. We would be able to work out a full time schedule for the right candidate.
The Culinary Lead position is primarily a kitchen position involving planning, cooking, pricing, documenting, dishes and clean-up. There is no one else to delegate work to. You would be doing it all!
The role is about 60-70% in the kitchen and 30-40% in the store (attending to the retail/customer service aspects of the business).
Job Description:
-Plan and prepare weekly menu for prepared/grab-and-go foods and hot lunch program
-Work in a beautiful second floor kitchen with lots of natural light
-Able to develop new recipes and use a fairly basic kitchen set-up (induction burners, convection oven, 3-compartment sink, prep table, Vitamix, and Robocoupe.)
-Work independently to lead all aspects of the Legacy Greens kitchen
-Calculate recipe costs and determine pricing
-Also work in the store, primarily assisting customers and performing opening and closing duties.
-Inventory management
-Cleaning and organizing
Qualifications/Experience:
-Must have current Smart Serve
-Must have current Food Handlers Certificate
-Must have previous kitchen experience
-Experience developing new recipes
-Experience with recipe scaling and documentation for large batch cooking.
-Able to independently manage time and priorities in the kitchen
-Passionate about making delicious and nourishing food with a focus on fresh and local ingredients.
-Familiarity with Google Sheets and Google Docs (or willingness to learn)
