4 Lovely things I've Learned Working at Legacy Greens (for only 2 months!)

Here's what I've learned since starting at Legacy Greens in January of 2022.
1. DTK is Full of Character and Charm
I'm a person who loves to travel, and one of my favourite aspects of travelling is pursuing city centers to experience the one-of-a-kind shops, vendors and handmade goods. To my surprise (and naivete), DTK is just as full of unique and charming businesses. And it's been a delight to meet business owners, chat with local residents, see unique products and experience DTK's distinct character.
2. Community is Thriving
The relationships and community I see around Legacy Greens are something to be admired, especially with how separated we've all had to be over the last two years. Business owners support and look out for each other, customers feel like friends, and a sense of connection stretches out across the downtown core. People want to be helpful, have fun and support each other in whatever way they can. It's heartwarming and comforting to feel a part of something larger than myself.
3.Food Exploration is Fun
Have you caught yourself making the same 6-8 dishes over and over? Spaghetti is a great staple, but it does get old, doesn't it? Working at Legacy Greens, packing weekly boxes and chatting with so many different people has opened up my kitchen to new recipes and dinner ideas. I've come across apples, root vegetables and fresh greens I've never tried before. It turns out my regular rotation of foods was pretty limited. Now, I'm picking up new food and experimenting with them at home. It's so much fun!
4. You can Build a Successful Business by Being Yourself
I hope this isn't taboo to rave about the business owner in her own blog, but I really can't resist. One thing that makes working at Legacy Greens such a fantastic experience is Jordan. For those of you who know Jordan, you know that she is there to build people up and does so by herself. Jordan has created a casual, be-yourself work environment that encourages honest communication, sharing opinions, creative experimentation, and brainstorming new projects. It's a refreshing and uplifting environment to work in!
Well, that's what I've learned in just two months on the job. I can't wait to see what the next two, four, even six months bring!
By now, you're probably thinking, "who the heck is writing this anyway?"
Hey, friend! I'm Courtney, Legacy Greens' new social media manager, a nature lover and a web designer in my spare time. I build professionally authentic websites for Online Coaches. You can find my website at www.courtneyjune.ca.
And you can find me "holding down the fort" in the store all day Wednesdays and Friday mornings. Come say "Hi," I'd love to see you!
Bye for now.
